Independence is nothing , but the freedom to be
yourself. But today something strange popped into my mind. Are we
really free? We find many rules binding us in our life. One thing or the
other exerts superiority over the other. The concept of a supreme power
existed from the beginning of humanity. Regardless the supremacy of
such power, they believed that they can use the power offered by such
power for their needs. Thus the humanity met the GODs. This was the
beginning of the submissive nature of men. First the clever men formed
councils , as like in Roman and Greek civilizations which were later
replaced by single dictator, then to monarchy and finally to
colonization and democracy. During all these transitions of power a
simple yet crucial factor lies unheeded. The submissive nature of the
vast society. While a few fought their way to power, there were many who
stood beside ready to be ruled and trampled.
As the technology and knowledge of humankind increased the concept of god moved from natural odds to a power which controls the universe. But yet, the basics of god seems to be the things beyond the reach and knowledge. Moving to political dominance, the government formed the political leaders , puts several constrain on us. If every men are equal then how does a crime happens and who has the right to punish him for the same. George Orwell in his book ‘Animal Farm’ portrays the origin of government and how the accumulation of power happened. His quote “all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal’’ says of the political and social situation that prevails, and it is a relevant statement till the doom of the humanity.
“Power resides only where men believe it resides. A shadow on the wall, yet shadows can kill. And ofttimes a very small man can cast a very large shadow.” After all the French revolution it was said that power vests in the hands of people. Before that the power was with the aristocrats, bourgeoisie and the wealthy and today it shifted to the hand of wealthy businessmen. So what has the humanity achieved till the date. Submissive and trampled in the beginning and so in the end. In mythology no god has acted upon earth without being in human form. It is because the earth belongs to us and it is the humankind that has to make a difference. Jesus came to earth for salvation of humankind as one among us . Dashavatara of lord Vishnu is a prime example for it. The salvation of humankind is within itself. In short the humanity always turned its ace against freedom, and always wanted to be dominated.
