Hearts Shall Beat Again

Isn’t it better to leave something’s unsaid?” He asked himself.

He looked around his room. It was a mess. He left his room rarely, and no one came in except for his girlfriend, Irene. The room was dull and filled with smoke. There was a desk near the window. On the desk, along with other things, there was an ashtray and a burning cigarette. Sheets of paper laid across the room. His clothes lay a heap on his bed.

He sat on his chair and gazed through the closed window. He stared at the dustbin far across the street. The rattling of keys in the lock wakes him from his thoughts.
“Come on in,” he said. “I didn’t close it after you left.”

He looked upon her closely. She looked gorgeous. Her face had a glow which he hasn’t seen in a while. Her black hair and eyes made her look angelic. She was wearing a yellow dress that added to her beauty.

“Hey, I didn’t want to bother you. I am here to pick up my things” said Irene.
“Are you serious?”
“Yeah, Shouldn’t I? You made things pretty clear yesterday.”
“I’m sorry I came on to you, like that,” He said.
She sighed. “I know," Said that she went into the room to pick up her things.

He met Irene during college. That was a time when he was madly in love with her. Every conversation they had, every moment together, made him happier. Every time their eyes met, he could sense it. They loved simple things, like reading and travelling. His friends often said that they were made for each other. She was his pride. She loved to read and so, he started writing, only for her. They had to run away for their love. One thing they were sure of, they loved each other. Often, good things don’t last a lifetime. After living together for two years, he started acting weird. His actions made her think that there was something wrong in their relationship.

“That’s everything. Hope to never see you again” His thoughts were broken by her voice. “Wait, I have something for you,” he said. He pulled out a coffee-stained envelope from his drawer and gave her. Without another word, she went out. Her eyes were wet with tears.

He came to the window and looked down the street. There she was, near the dustbin. She had opened the envelope. She stopped there. Having read the letter, she looked at his window and on the envelope. She threw it in the bin and walked away. It was as if she was determined to move on.

"Sometimes things are better left unsaid," He said to himself. He took another cigarette from his drawer and lit it. He went to the window and opened it. A cool breeze came in brushing him, on his face.

Why has Politics Gone Wrong??

India was the land of sages in the past. There was a time when we Indians were known for good . And speaking of politics there were people like Gandhi who were selfless and had vision of a prosperous india which would have been a heaven to live on. But where has it gone wrong?India seems to have a progress towards immorality. Its a great miracle how these criminals, thieves, rapists have managed to enter politics and its another wonder how they managed to get elected.    Its sad that even common people have become crooked. The world gets more complex per second and so people gets crooked. Bad people need bad leaders to lead them. The politics have grown to be a dirty game of money and muscle power, whereas it was a service to the nation.People gradually learned the business of politics and understood  the flow of resources behind it and learnt to exploit it for their own selfishness. When the rich and the powerful entered the game of politics the morale of politics ca...

Fear And Failure

American President Mr Franklin D Roosevelt once said "The only thing we have to fear is fear". Fear is the feeling of anxiety concerning the outcome of something or the safety of someone or the likelihood of something unwelcome happening. Fear is an unwanted emotion that will let you from thinking clearly and solve issues. Fear is a false anticipation of  something to go wrong.Fear is a necessary evil. Fear often helps you in physical situations  by boosting adrenalin. But in mental and intellectual troubles fear is an adverse factor. When fear is inflicted it reduces your ability to think and lead you by instincts. Shakespeare in one of his famous dramas said "When you fear a foe, fear crushes your strength ; and this weakness gives strength to your opponents"  It is same in the case of problems in life. When you begin to fear them they will only grow. But rather when you start to face them you will see they will begin to melt away like ice. There is no life a...

Parting ways

"What would you say if I ask you out?" asked him. The question startled her mildly, for she always thought of him as her friend. It was quite unusual of him to ask, she thought.  It was a beautiful day in the park. The sky was blue and the sun shone brightly. Children were playing at distance. They were walking along the pavement, looking at the kids playing.  "Hey," he called her.  "Well hypothetically, I might not create a scene, but I don't want a relationship now." Said she.  It's what he expected all along. For he never wanted to upset her. After all, it's only a miracle if a girl in this world would go out with me, he thought.  She thought, it' s been over a year since I met him. We had a good time. Now he's asking all the wrong questions. He asked few questions. That's what I liked about him.  He came to her asking for a donation to help the homeless while they were in College. A guy like that, smart, charming and witty. He ...
