FREEDOM AND MAN

Independence is nothing , but the freedom to be yourself. But today something strange popped into my mind. Are we really free? We find many rules binding us in our life. One thing or the other exerts superiority over the other. The concept of a supreme power existed from the beginning of humanity. Regardless the supremacy of such power, they believed that they can use the power offered by such power for their needs. Thus the humanity met the GODs. This was the beginning of the submissive nature of men. First the clever men formed councils , as like in Roman and Greek civilizations which were later replaced by single dictator, then to monarchy and finally to colonization and democracy. During all these transitions of power a simple yet crucial factor lies unheeded. The submissive nature of the vast society. While a few fought their way to power, there were many who stood beside ready to be ruled and trampled. As the technology and knowledge of humankind increase...

Enemy behind the door

Lola, a 17 year old girl was preparing for her exams in the morning. She was utterly furious when her mother interrupted her. "Lola, get downstairs" shouted her mom Lola lived in a small house near the street along her Dad and Mom. She also had a brother studying in town. Their only livelihood was her dad's business around the street. Mom said, "go, buy some milk from the shop. Dad is not feeling okay" Lola asked her mother "mom why's dad strange these days? Last day he simply shouted at me when I was studying. I've ne'er seen him like that"          "You dumb girl. Are you standing there to cross your father? Will you get some milk or should i go?" Shouted her mother. Lola was startled at  her mother's reaction and ran out with watering eyes. It was the first time she had such an experience from her family. For the past few days she felt like she was living in a hell. She returned home later and laid down on the c...

Hug,Harmony and Education

Recently I've come across the news of a boy being suspended for hugging a girl in the school premises. It occured in Kerala with its highly educated society. Oh god! This is ridiculous. Being a citizen residing in kerala I'm ashamed to accept such a heinous crime aganst the blooming generation took place in my society. With the informations filling in and the responses from the schools and parents, it is clear that it is the school authorities who have been blowing into the fire. The boy have already appoligised for his behaviour. A boy hugged a girl after she won a prize in recitation. A hug ! Nothing more. It was a gesture of their excitement and appreciation. Till now I believed that school is a place of education and correction and not punishment and labour. But with incidents such as this it is time to rethink. The flaws in the current education system is getting more attention. It seems that afterall the school authorities only care about their reputation and not ...

Dungeon of Feelings

I adore you, when you say I'm mad to see that you care for me In your muddle of thoughts Am I so valuable to you But Where were you till I got insane How come you get to me, now To pursue the memories Hitting me with the volleys of pain I was not there when you needed me Here you are at last Prominent, to me Why make me have, Those promises that I can't keep Do you know the pain of being false To the one whom I care Putting up the evil smile, crying within the soul To smile, when I cut through your heart Knowing the blood flowing on my hands To feel the guilt flowning in my soul There in the dungeon of memories I confined myself to make up to you I avoided you so far, to let you know I'm sorry Thinking that I wasn't worthy, trying to get over This pretty mess I've made, Guilt was friendly to me Keeping the pains away from me But it had its price, that no one can refuse to pay Turned me resilient, into a stone One day I saw that it was l...

Twists of faith

Dean was a bright, young chap from Oxford. He was interested in studying other people, so he decided to pursue a Masters in Philosophy.  His dream was to obtain a PhD in the same discipline. Dean was walking down the road one day, when he suddenly went up to a pool and dipped his head in water. A stranger nearby, felt uneasy watching this odd behavior and asked him, "Hey dude, what's that you are doing there?”   “Huh?", Dean replied, "I’m trying to suffocate myself, so that my thinking, will stop." "What? What is so terrible in your thoughts, that you need to suffocate yourself? ", asked the man?  "I was thinking of religion, mate”, said Dean.  The stranger felt uneasy, hearing that a man would want to avoid thinking about religion. He thought that this man must be crazy. He asked, "What's your name?" Dean said to the man, “My name is Dean and as you seem to have interest in me, I'll tell you my story." This is how he...

Game of Words

Paulo Coelho in his book, Zahir  portraits  a desperate writer who is bound to find his Zahir, the lost love. The protagonist reveals his reasons to write. He wanted respect for himself. He wanted to express the feelings and leave an impact in other's life. He wanted to play the game, game of words. It is from Zahir I took inspiration to write. Words can have a mystic power. The pen can often write itself, provided with a reason. But it is not what it makes good writers. People tend to keep a diary upon hearing their idols maintain one. But after the first few entries, it is discarded altogether. The truth is writing is an art which chooses its destiny. The destiny of a writer lies at the tip of his pen and not in his hands. For many its a path to glory wealth  and whatever. But for some others it is  life. And that's why I wanted to be one of them. Autobiography is a way of writing which prevailed through out all stages of writing.Autobiography...
